The BandLab music creation platform acquired ReverbNation from its parent company, eMinor, Inc.
The agreement takes effect immediately.
Launched in 2006, US-based ReverbNation offers digital distribution as well as career management and online marketing tools for independent artists.
Founded in 2015, BandLab is BandLab Technologies’ flagship music production platform based in Singapore, which is reportedly used by over 40 million creators.
BandLab says the acquisition will help accelerate its artist services capabilities, building on recently announced features such as artist-to-fan subscriptions and BandLab Distribution.
Following the acquisition, ReverbNation says its services to artists will be uninterrupted and that artists can “expect seamless integration of ReverbNation’s capabilities into BandLab’s authoring capabilities in the near future.”
ReverbNation’s former parent company, eMinor, says it will now focus on its other software businesses, including its youth sports platform PlayMetrics.
No other details of the deal have been released, but BandLab says more information on the product roadmap and future features will be shared “in due course”.
In 2019, BandLab Technologies acquired TI Media’s British media brands NME and Uncut based in London.
In 2018, based in the UK Meng Kuok, BandLab Technologies
BandLab Technologies CEO Meng Kuok said, “We are very excited to welcome the ReverbNation community to BandLab. We have a clear vision of the role BandLab plays in supporting creators around the world, today and in the future. Artist services are a key part of this plan, as evidenced by our recently announced subscriptions and distribution offers.
“This acquisition allows us to accelerate the BandLab product roadmap and further allows us to break down the technical, geographical and creative barriers faced by musicians and fans.”
Meng Kuok added: “We have known ReverbNation for a long time and have great respect for its ability to build a fantastic artist services business.
“There are more exciting announcements coming, but what ReverbNation brings to BandLab fits our vision perfectly: a future where there are no boundaries in creating and sharing music.”
“REVERBNATION HAS LONG BEEN THE STANDARD FOR ARTIST PROMOTION AND GROWTH TOOLS. SINCE ITS EVOLUTION FROM STARTUP IN 2006 TO TODAY’S MATURE AND PROFITABLE BUSINESS, IT HAS CONTINUALLY INNOVATED.”
